On the Monday 2 June, all our art scholars and ambassadors met in the Art Department to get ready to go on a trip to London. There was a real buzz as everyone was really excited to see some amazing art in the capital!
The following is written by Year 8 pupils Polina Brown and Masha Budnyk:
‘At about 10.00am, we arrived in London nice and early because there was surprisingly barely any traffic on the road. After that, we walked across the street to Hyde Park, where we had a little break and some snacks before walking to the first art gallery - Frameless.
Frameless Art Gallery is very impressive because there are many rooms filled with lots of famous artworks that moved around you. It also had classical music that helped to express the artist’s emotions and what they might have been feeling whilst painting the piece. After wandering around the immersive rooms for some time, we regrouped in the gallery’s shop, where we all bought posters, puzzles, or postcards to keep as souvenirs. We then walked across the road back to Hyde Park to rest in the sun and enjoy our packed lunches.
Next, we visited another art gallery called the Mocco Museum. This was more of a traditional art gallery with paintings and modern sculptures on all three floors, but there was also a room filled with vibrant LED lights and endless mirrors which impressed everyone. As well as that, there were rooms filled with digital art displays and 3D endless shapes which had mirrors and lights inside. When we had taken enough pictures and seen all the artwork, we walked down to the shop to buy some more souvenirs and get ready to go.
Everyone was really tired, but happy after such a great day In London. Thank you to Miss Jiggens and Miss Platt for organising such an awesome trip for us!'
