A Double Dose of Creativity

Ahead of their respective moderations, the Art and Photography departments showcased the talents of their pupils with exhibitions that there open to all members of the Shiplake College community.  

For the Photography Department, this took place on Wednesday 11 June and staff, pupils, and parents were invited to attend and gaze upon the work created by this group of pupils over the last two years. During their A-level, the students produce three projects all based on different themes, plus a Personal Study essay on a chosen topic. The titles from all students were really varied and creative this year, and it was brilliant to see projects that also included material and inspiration from the department’s fantastic New York Trip this year. 

And, a week later on Wednesday 18 June, the Great Hall was once again transformed into an art gallery that would rival The Louvre and the Tate Modern! The Summer Art Exhibition provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of our Year 11 and Year 13 pupils. Many A-level projects drew inspiration from last year’s trip to Venice, with each pupil developing a theme that reflected their own personal interests - whether family, culture, hobbies, or sport. Similarly to the photography exhibition, visitors were able to explore the beautifully presented sketchbooks that showcase the creative journey behind each artwork. The exhibition was a wonderful celebration of pupil achievement, and we are delighted that so many visitors left feeling inspired.
