On Thursday 19 Mach, the Lecture Theatre played host to the latest Lunchtime Concert.

More than just a performance opportunity, these concerts are a chance for the Shiplake community to gather, appreciate the arts, and celebrate the creativity of our young musicians. Whether stepping onto the stage for the first time or performing as experienced Music Scholars, every pupil received warm, generous support from the audience.

This week’s programme brought together talent from across the year groups, featuring performances from Year 9 musicians through to Year 13 Scholars. The lineup included:

  • Johnny Pearson - Pirates of the Caribbean Theme, Hans Zimmer
  • Florian Jenkins - Valse Valse, P. I. Tchaikovsky
  • Elliot Jones - Trumpet Tune, Henry Purcell
  • Luke Leamon - The Spirit of Radio, Rush
  • Elena Lenchits-Evans - Snowball on the Rocks Movement 1, Paul Harvey
  • Charles Peng - Nocturne Op. 9 No.1, Frederic Chopin

Each performance was met with warm applause, and the final ensemble piece drew an especially enthusiastic response. A huge well done to all our performers and thank you to everyone who came along to share in this uplifting celebration of music.

With rehearsals for next week’s Spring Concert now in full swing, the energy and creativity on display at this Lunchtime Concert set a wonderful tone for what promises to be an exciting season of music ahead.
