On Friday 8 May 2026, members of the Shiplake community gathered for a special and intimate Soloists’ Concert, celebrating the outstanding talents of the College’s music scholars and advanced musicians.
The Soloists’ Concert marks an important milestone in the development of any advanced musician. Our gifted performers presented a varied and engaging programme, featuring music from classical, romantic, and impressionist traditions through to jazz and folk. The repertoire included both familiar favourites and lesser-known works. Pupils from across the College, ranging from Year 7 to Year 13, took to the floor, showcasing an impressive breadth of talent through piano, saxophone, and trumpet solos, as well as a number of accomplished vocal performances.
Reflecting on the event, Director of Music Mrs Haynes said:
“The performers were all fantastic, they have worked really hard and they should be really proud of themselves for their performances this evening.”
Preparation for a concert of this calibre relies heavily on the skill and dedication of its accompanists. On behalf of all the singers and instrumentalists, sincere thanks go to Mrs Rapple Moore for her expert accompaniment, as well as to our committed team of Visiting Music Teachers for their guidance and support in preparing students for this performance.
