Shiplake College hosted the 9th annual Kwik Cricket festival for local Primary Schools in the Henley and Reading area. The festival was organized by local cricket coaching company, Performance Cricket, for local school children to play and compete against other schools.
Teams were entered from Trinity, Churchend, Micklands, Peppard, Caversham, and Emmer Green. The event was split into two leagues of four teams with every team playing each other in their own league in a round robin format. The winners, runners up, third place and 4th place of each league then played in a final match against the respective team from the other league. Umpiring and scoring duties were undertaken by an enthusiastic group of Shiplake College students plus during break times some raucous support from fellow Shiplake students watching from the boundary edges.
Congratulations to overall winners Emmer Green Pumas (149) beating holders Churchend Bears (135) by 14 runs in the Grand Final. All matches were played in tremendous spirit with some fantastic talent on display boding well for local junior cricket. Matches were hosted on the beautiful main field at Shiplake College superbly prepared by Richard Evans, Head Groundsman and his team. All the children went home with either a gold, silver or bronze medal kindly sponsored by Invesco Perpetual.
