Trips & Visits History

On Thursday 7 May, Year 7 pupils enjoyed an exciting History trip to Hampton Court Palace, as part of their current studies on the Tudor period.

Set against the impressive backdrop of Henry VIII’s former royal residence, the visit offered students a unique opportunity to step back in time and immerse themselves in one of the most dramatic eras of English History. Throughout the day, pupils explored the palace interiors and expansive grounds.  A highlight of the trip was the guided tour of the palace, where students learned more about the lives of the monarchs and courtiers who once walked the historic halls. The group also took part in an engaging workshop focused on Tudor society and the complex succession crisis following the death of Elizabeth I. This session helped deepen students’ understanding of the political tensions and uncertainties of the time.

Among the many standout features were the awe-inspiring Great Hall, with its striking hammerbeam roof and intricate stained-glass windows, and the beautifully maintained riverside gardens. Pupils also enjoyed navigating the famous maze, adding an element of fun and exploration. The trip proved to be both educational and enjoyable, offering students the chance to connect their studies with real historical settings and artefacts. Experiences such as this play a vital role in enhancing classroom learning and inspiring curiosity about the past.

The College extends its thanks to Miss Russell, Mr Player, Mr Bosomworth, Mr Meegan, Miss Hendriks and Rev Medlicott for organising and accompanying the trip, ensuring a safe and successful day for all involved.
