
Last Friday, 8 September, pupils across the College took part in the first House event of the academic year – the cross-country.
Prior to the event, pupils and staff gathered on Front Field for what was a poignant moment to pay tribute to the late Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Following a service in which a two-minute silence was held, pupils assembled in front of Skipwith House ahead of the start of the run.
At precisely 3.50pm, the front of Skipwith House was awash with colour and noise as Mr David Currie and Mr Hugh Mackworth-Praed led the initial group of Lower School runners up the front drive. Shortly after, each year group began their respective races in a variety of manners, with many runners wholeheartedly getting into the spirit, and others taking a more relaxed approach!
In what was the 'short course', runners still had to endure a gruelling 3km run which included running twice around Front Field and down Church Lane, before crossing the finish line in front of the pavilion at Orchard.
At the finish line, staff were waiting to hand out tickets to record who came where in each year group, contributing to the overal House results. They are as follows:
